Halloween is almost here again and there will be many fancy dress parties going on. It is the favourite time of year to get dressed up in a strange outfit and to make a fool of yourself. When it comes down to what you are going to wear there are all kinds of possibilities. A lot of people tend to stick to the Halloween theme and go as Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein or The Wolfman. Sticking to the traditional spooky image of Halloween is all well and good, but there are a lot of alternatives to consider as well…
Pirate costumes are becoming very popular for fancy dress parties. They have always featured in the selections of outfits in fancy dress shops but they are now being worn by a lot more partygoers. A lot of this is down to the great commercial success of the Johnny Depp and his films Mr. Depp and his crewmates have managed to make pirate costumes look like incredibly cool things to wear.
Of course, there have been movies with buccaneers; when Disney created its ‘Caribbean’ franchise it had not really come up with anything new. The main reason that they have been so amazingly successful is because they tap into a wonderful type of adventure story that had been largely forgotten about. Cinema has always had its antiheroes in pirate costumes, but there had not been any really good ones for quite a number of years.
When Captain Jack Sparrow made his dazzling appearance across the big screen, he captured us with his wit and charm, and the whole pirate story came back to life. You immediately remembered all the pirate tales you watched as a kid on TV and felt the same excitement.

Well i’ve got mine all set up already . But following on from some of the suggestions here i am going to tweak things.I like the idea of setting up a treasure map. I can grab some pirate type graphics and add them to my map and i could add parchment edge graphics too. I like the idea of putting up pirate posters behind my bar are3a and a rtreasure chest on the bar top, complete with skull and bones!
The maybe get some spder cobweb spary…
YOU KNOW, THIS COULD GO ON FOREVER!!

I was surprised to see single shops completely dedicated to selling pirate costumes. They stock every imaginable item from pirate balloons to party themes. I just hope for their sake, that pirates don’t go out of fashion.
Exactly what would captain jack sparrow made of that lot? How about a tv program where captain jack sparrow comes back to life in the 21st century?
He would probably not be a happy man

Watching my son’s excitement for Halloween allows me to recollect with all the fond memories I had of trick-or-treating in my childhood neighborhood. Never had I imagined at the moment that I would one day accompany my kids down a street in another community to collect treats and goodies from other people. And yeah, another thing I really enjoy about the holiday is getting to eat with them all that yummy candies afterward.
I was a pirate for a recent fanciful company dress up party! I created my own black undercoat using black cloth and buttons I got from a market stall. I put on a blue jeans and tucked them into black boots. I purchased an inexpensive navy blue and white striped jumper and large hooped earrings , bought a sword from the pound shop and wore a scarf with a skull design. I also slipped on a belt and a dangly necklace.
