Seductive pirate costumes for halloween

For a woman, going to a halloween fancy dress party can be a great excuse to wear a really sexy outfit. There are quite a number of different things to choose from that can look really good. One of the largest factors which you have to consider when you are deciding on what to wear is how much self confidence you have. You do not want to make yourself stand out from the crowd if it is going to make you feel uncomfortable all evening and ultimately ruin the whole party for you. There are still plenty of outfits to choose from even if are not daring enough to wear something with a short skirt or a low-cut top. You can still manage to look really alluring without showing off your legs.

Pirate costumes for women can look very sexy and still be relatively simple. For the less confident lady, there is the option of dressing up in a man’s style of outfit with some small feminine touches added to it. For example, you could wear some fairly plain-looking trousers with a wide leather belt. This will help to exaggerate your waistline and hips. Perhaps you could wear a man’s shirt with the belt over the top of it? For ladies who are a bit more daring they could have the shirt unbuttoned quite low and wear a nice necklace that is in keeping with pirate costumes.

Another possibility is a nice skirt or dress worn with leather boots. Have a look at Keira Knightley in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies and the style of her clothes. If you can find yourself a dress that has got a lace-up front then it will look really nice with a pair of black or brown boots even if it is long. This is the good thing about pirate costumes; there are so many different ways to dress. Again, for braver ladies that want something that is a bit more ‘naughty’, there is the option of a lace-up dress that is a bit too tight and a little on the short side.Certainly adds something extra to a Halloween party

Dressing up in a pirate costume

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Halloween is almost here again and there are bound to be plenty of fancy dress parties going on. It is the most popular time of year to get dressed up in some strange outfit and to make a fool of yourself. When it comes down to what you are going to wear there are all kinds of possibilities. A lot of people tend to stick to the Halloween theme and go as Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein or The Wolfman. Sticking to the traditional spooky image of Halloween is all well and good, but there are a lot of alternatives to consider as well…

Pirate costumes are becoming very popular for fancy dress parties. They have always featured in the selections of outfits in fancy dress shops but they are now being worn by a lot more partygoers. A lot of this is down to the enormous success of the Johnny Depp movies. Mr. Depp and his crewmates have managed to make pirate costumes look like incredibly cool things to wear.

Of course, there have always been movies about buccaneers; when Disney created its ‘Caribbean’ franchise it had not really come up with anything new. The main reason that they have been so amazingly successful is because they tap into a wonderful type of adventure story that had been largely forgotten about. Cinema has always had its antiheroes in pirate costumes, but there had not been any really good ones for quite a number of years.

When Captain Jack Sparrow made his dazzling appearance across the big screen, he captured us with his wit and charm, and the whole pirate story came back to life. You immediately remembered all the pirate tales you watched as a kid on TV and felt the same excitement.

The backgroud to Captain Jack Sparrow

The latest batch of Pirates Of The Caribbean films, has reminded us of the romantic image of the pirate. Almost always portrayed as English, most pirates were English and the earlier ones, known as privateers, operated with the agreement of Elizabeth I of England.

According to the original story of Captain Jack Sparrow, he started his naval as a ship’s captain for the East India Trading Co. Many had similar backgrounds. Privateers dury was to attack Spanish vessels and capture their treasure. They did not sail under the flag of England, and there was no official acknowledgement from the Queen, but privateers paid a portion of their treasure to the crown. Sir Francis Drake was thought to be a privateer.

When some refused to turn over their treasure and even started attacking English merchant ships, pirates were then classed as outlaws. The East India Trading Co. was often attacked by pirates and hunted them down in order to stop the attacks, because the company was essential to the economy of England.

While piravateers ships belonged to aristocrats, the sailors in them outlaw pirates came from the lower classes. They were rough and ruthless, killing all on board a captured ship. If rich passengers were caught they were held for ransom, and even when ransoms were paid, victims were rarely returned to their families.

Captain Jack Sparrow goes back more to the gentleman privateers, rather than the lower class hooligans and criminals who terrorized travellers the on the shipping channels from the New World and the old. Captain Barbosa was one of the the ruffian class. Men for both merchant and naval ships in England were often forced into service. Press crews would trawl the bars and pubs in the poorer parts of the city and grab all men able to make up crews. These men wlate on turned to mutiny and piracy.

Pirates have long been thought in romantic terms and Captain Jack Sparrow outfit fits the image. If you are thinking of a costume to wear this Halloween, consider one from Captain Jack Sparrow trousseau.
