Pirate costumes and the pirate film

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

The latest Pirates film “Pirates of the Caribbean” focuses on the elixir of youth, and both the theme park ride as well as the movie and the sale of pirate costumes all benefit from the publicity

Once again Johnny Depp portrays a sly and swaggering as Pirate, his attention seeking attitude is not enough to make this picture a success. It is a long film as Johnny Depp and his adversaries compete to find the magic potion of youth.

These boisterous pirates finally arrive on the island supposed to hold the potion. However due to the length of the film, You’ll have aged somewhat when they arrive.

The scene opens quite energetically as trouble prone Captain Jack Sparrow, finds himself once again imprisoned and working on an escape plan. A fat and powdered King of England his military authorities have him tethered to a chair and ready for questioning. He throws clever insults at his jailers and seems more occupied
is more interested in trying to get hold of a cream cake just out of his reach.

We know he will escape because it’s clear he is going to have the cake. Out hero excite us as he swings from a palace chandelier, runs through the crowded town streets, and bumps into Judi Dench as a lady in a horse drawn carriage.

You would be forgiven for recalling Douglas Fairbanks in his role as Sinbad the Sailer 60 odd years ago.

Unfortunately Sparrow’s latest adventure is not as endearing as it develops. Gore Verbinski directed the initial three films with a feel for pop culture, The new director Rob Marshall has a more pedantic and boring touch.

Sparrow and his entourage others are sent on a search for the fountain of youth which simply consists of ships sailing and of pirates people hacking through the jungle.

The original characters of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly do not make an appearance in this 4th movie.

Why pirate costumes are a must

When choosing which accessories to go with your outfit there are all sorts of things to choose from. There are items like swords, daggers and muskets (not real ones obviously), hooked hands, pocket watches and all sorts of suitable jewellry. With a little imagination and thought you can easily come up with some great ideas. Depending on how far you actually want to go with the authenticity of your outfit you could even sport a thick golden ring in your ear and some temporary tattoos (of which there is a huge selection available). Some pirates’ costumes actually come complete with a parrot to perch on your shoulder. Have a think about films that feature pirates and the sort of things that they wear.

Since the release of the Johnny Depp films there has been a huge amount of renewed interest in pirates. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies are very watchable and Captain Jack Sparrow has proved to be an incredibly popular character with people all around the world. The three films in the series have been an enormous hit and Johnny Depp has been heralded by many as being ‘the best pirate ever’. If there is a fancy dress party that you have been invited to or if you are organising one yourself then pirates costumes are always a great choice and whilst people are so enamoured with Jack Sparrow and his adventures it is a better time than ever to get dressed up.
